In the Woods
Sewing kit, sensors, sound transducers and Android tablet
Interactive video/sound installation by Alexandra Gelis, with electronics and programming by Hector Centeno. An old sewing kit box was retrofitted with IR sensors to detect the speed of movement of the spools. Each spool triggers a different video on the Android tablet and plays it at a frame rate controlled by the spool speed. This is a documentary piece that portrays the lives of the inhabitants of the “El Bosque” neighbourhood in Colombia.
