Soundscape Field Recordings

This is a selection of soundscape field recordings that I have produced throughout the years. In most cases my main goal has been to create a record of the fundamental acoustic experience of a location. To achieve this, I’ve been constantly exploring recording techniques that not only accurately capture the wide range of audible sound frequencies present, but also accurately capture the acoustic spatial qualities of the locations. This exploration has included using both commercially available recording equipment and developing my own microphones and acoustic barriers for stereo, ambisonic and binaural recording. Most of the recording techniques used require that these recordings are listened to with headphones (over the ear studio style preferable instead of in-ear earbuds) in order to experience a more accurate spatial image.
